Edward Terry Gruidel was born on February 1, 1941 to Edward and Meddill Gruidel in Omaha, NE. Upon graduation from high school, Ed was drafted by the newly founded Los Angeles Dodgers in 1958.

He played the 1959 season for their farm system in Odessa, TX, and the 1960 season in Kokomo, IN. A fond memory is having lunch with Mickey Mantle during spring training. He went on to obtain degrees in Industrial Engineering from the University of Omaha and Arizona State University. He married Janet D. Moravec on September 1965.

Together they had one son, Eric Edward Gruidel. Janet passed away on November 6, 1983. Ed married Ann D. Williams on January 24, 1987. They had two sons, Ryan Edward and Dalton Edward Gruidel.

Ed worked for IBM in Boulder for 22 years. He continued on as an entrepreneur and investor. Ed enjoyed bicycling, skiing, golfing, volleyball, playing bridge and trips to Mexico. He coached all of his boys in Little League baseball. Surviving are his mother, Meddill, Omaha; wife, Ann, Boulder; son, Eric and his wife, Susan and their children Ava and Wyatt, New York, NY; sons, Ryan and Dalton, Boulder; and his brother, Don and his wife, Linda, Niwot; along with numerous loving family and friends.

She worked at Mutual of Omaha after graduating, until her marriage to Allan Vrba in 1958. She was a devoted mother and homemaker most her life in Omaha and three years in Salt Lake City from 1973 to 1976. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Marlene Taylor.
