Soulfire Bastion Guide (2024)

1.

Introduction

Dungeons are a big part of the endgame in Last Epoch. One of the most rewardingand important dungeons is the Soulfire Bastion Dungeon, as it will giveaccess to the Soul Gambler at the end.

The Soul Gambler is a mysterious entity that can offer you amazing rewards, butalso great risks. In this guide, we will tell you everything you need to knowabout this dungeon.

2.

How to Enter the Dungeon

To enter the Soulfire Bastion, you need a Soulfire Bastion Key.These keys can drop from random enemies, and can also be farmed fromTimeline bosses, as well as within the Arena ofChampions. Keep in mind, though, that the Arena has a very low droprate, so it is not the most recommended way to target-farm dungeon keys.

Once you have a key, you can head to the dungeon and enter. The Soulfire BastionDungeon is located in Thetima, within the LakeLiath area (next to The Felled Wood) of theImperial Era. You can head to the Outcast Campand follow the way until The Risen Lake to have access toThe Felled Wood, and then head to The SoulfireBastion.

If you are in a party with someone else, you can enter a dungeon even if onlyone of you holds the dungeon key.

2.1.

Elements and Resistances

Each dungeon features a unique elemental theme. The Soulfire Bastion is allabout Fire and Necrotic Damage, so make sure you have enough Fire and NecroticResistance to survive.

In this dungeon, you will encounter a unique mechanic: Souls. You can collect Souls by killing enemies, and use them for different purposes. You can either use Souls to shield yourself from damage, or gamble themfor a chance to get better rewards.

The Soulfire Bastion dungeon has a high risk, high reward system. You can notrevive if you die in the dungeon. Furthermore, if you die, you will lose allyour progress and loot, and you will be kicked out of the dungeon. You will needa new key to enter again. However, you can team up with other players to makethe dungeon easier. But be careful! If you die in a party, you will still bekicked out, and you will not get any loot. The other players can continue thedungeon without you.

In this dungeon, you will have access to a special mechanic: theSoulfire Shield. This ability will create a shield around youthat will reduce either Fire or Necrotic damage, depending on the color of theshield. You will need to use this ability wisely, to protect yourself from theboss's attacks. The boss can deal a lot of damage with its fire and necroticskills, and you might die in one hit if you are not careful. However, using theSoulfire Shield will consume Souls, which are also the currency that you can useto gamble for rewards at the end of the dungeon. So, you will have to balancebetween using Souls for defense or saving them for the Soul Gambler.

3.1.

Layout

All dungeons will follow a similar layout: two map sections, and an arena withthe boss. You have to travel through both maps, and open a door to access thenext one. The first door will lead to the second map, while the second door willlead to the boss.

Unlike other games, maps inside the dungeons are not randomized, but some roadswill randomly be blocked each run. The doors that separate each map will alwayshave a road leading to them, but it may not always be the same one.

4.

Enemies

Among many basic enemies, this dungeon also has some challenging enemies thatcan pose a serious threat.

4.1.

Special enemies

There are four tougher enemies that will cause you trouble; two of them deal Fire Damageand two of them deal Necrotic Damage.

  • The Immortal Incinerator has a fire beam attack that candeal a lot of damage. You can use the Soulfire Shield to reduce the damage, oryou can dodge the attack by moving away from it quickly.
  • The Searing Flesh can slam the ground with its fist, creating a shockwave that can hit you from close or far. This attack deals bothFire and Physical damage, so the Soulfire Shield will not protect youcompletely. You should try to avoid the attack by moving out of its range.
  • The Possessed Construct is a sneaky enemy that can spawnoutside your vision and shoots a necrotic projectile at you. You might not seethe attack coming, so you should always keep moving when you are not protectedby the Necrotic Shield. This way, you can dodge the attack if the enemy spawnsand fires at you.
  • The Possessed Golem has a Necrotic AoE attack that canbounce back and hit you twice. You need to be careful of where the attack landsthe first time, so you can avoid the second hit. You can also use the NecroticShield to reduce damage, but it is better to dodge the attack altogether.

4.2.

Boss - Cremorus

The Soulfire Bastion dungeon has one boss: Cremorus.

Before you enter the boss room, you should clear out all trash(random enemies) inside the dungeon. You will need Souls for the Shieldand the Gambler after you defeat the boss, so make sure to collect as many asyou can.

Cremorus is a tough and powerful boss. You will need to use the Soulfire Shieldat the right time to survive his attacks. Furthermore, Cremorus will alternatebetween Fire and Necrotic abilities, so you will need to switch the Shield coloraccordingly.

The arena is designed to favor the boss; Cremorus can activate some tiles on theground that will deal Necrotic Damage over time to anyone who steps on them. Themore you damage Cremorus, the more tiles will be activated, until the wholefloor is covered. The floor damage will also change type between Fire andNecrotic.

The boss has only one phase, but it becomes more dangerous as its health drops. We recommend you save your immunity switch for when the floor is completelycovered, as the other attacks can be dodged, but the floor damage cannot beavoided, and you will take constant damage over time (DoT).

Make sure to go into this fight with as much Fire and Necrotic Resistance aspossible. Tier 1 and Tier 2 dungeons should be manageable for anyone, but highertiers will require you to use a movement skill that makes you invincible for amoment, such as Soulfire Bastion Guide (1)Teleport, Soulfire Bastion Guide (2)Shift,Soulfire Bastion Guide (3)Transplant, or Soulfire Bastion Guide (4)Lunge. You will need to putthese skills in a specialization slot with the proper buff activated.

Another option is to get a cleanse that can remove the dots from you from timeto time, such as a potion that gives you Ward and ailment cleansing, or a skillthat cleanses you and your allies.

The fight becomes very hard at Tier 4, as the floor will deal a lot ofdamage if you don't switch the shield on time. The boss's other attacks are nottoo hard to dodge. Be careful when you switch the shield and make sure to get ridof any DoT before you do. If you switch to Necrotic Damage Reduction while youhave the Fire DoT, you might die. When the boss summons a Thrall or somethingthat chases you, keep running until it stops or explodes, because it will hurt alot. As a final tip, don't run towards other players. You don't want to set them on fireby mistake.
