Updated: Primary and local ballot results for Tuesday, June 11 election - Daily Bulldog (2024)

FRANKLIN COUNTY – Polls were open on Tuesday, June 11 for the primary elections to determine federal, state, and local races. Several local ballots were also voted on, including school budgets. All of the results for the primary and local ballots will be reported here.

Candidates who win their races in the primary will qualify for the General Election ballot in November, at which time candidates will compete against those from opposing parties along with unenrolled and write-in candidates for the seat in question. At the General Election in November, voters will also cast ballots for U.S. Presidential candidates. The Presidential primary was held in March.

Many races have just one candidate in each party, or just one candidate total. For more information, read this explanation of what is on the ballot this year.

The RSU 9 budget was passed, with seven towns in favor and three opposed, including Chesterville, New Vineyard, and Weld.

Kingfield voted on two local referendum questions, the first relating to a contract zoning application for Jordan Ventures. The application required setback and density changes for two 4-unit apartment buildings proposed to be built at 47 West Kingfield Road. The privately-owned buildings would be similar in style to Jordan Ventures housing located at 64 West Kingfield Rd. The item passed with 143 in favor and 52 opposed.

Kingfield’s second referendum was a survey on speed tables. The results of the survey will give the select board a clearer direction of whether the town wanted to move forward with implementation of the traffic calming devices known as speed tables. 69 voted yes and 129 no. The board will discuss the results on their Monday night meeting.

Wilton voted candidate Phil Hilton onto the select board with 354 votes. Gwendolyn Doak won the open school board seat against Louise Hiltz with 278 votes.
